A wallet address works like a username that never forgets. Paste it into any block explorer and you can read someone's entire financial life: what they hold, what they earn, who they pay, and when. Your employer, your ex, a stranger who once got a payment from you, all of them can look, forever. Dark encrypts your USDG balance and the amounts you send privately. Who you pay and when stays public.

How it works
Private is the resting state.
Private by default
Your USDG balance and the amounts you send to other Dark accounts are encrypted on-chain. Private mode is where the wallet opens, not a setting you have to remember. Deposits, withdrawals, addresses and other tokens stay public, and until your first private payment in or out your balance can be worked out from them.
Selective disclosure
Prove one fact about your private USDG (a balance, a payment or a total) with a link at darkwallet.cash/d/…. The viewer also learns your address, so they can see everything that's already public about it. Links can expire or be revoked; anyone who already saved a proof can still check it.
Real self-custody
Your keys are generated and kept on your device. No one at Dark can move or freeze your balance, and Dark can never pause withdrawals, even with every Dark server offline.
Never a mixer
Dark is not a mixer: it doesn't pool or shuffle coins between users to hide who paid whom. It does encrypt amounts. Every balance is your own encrypted account that only your proof can move, and the USDG behind all balances sits in one contract that no one at Dark can move (see Beta risks in the docs).

The chain sees that your account exists and when it moves, but not how much it holds or sends privately. When you need to prove a balance or a payment, you share a read-only proof of that one fact. The person you share it with also sees your address, and everything already public about it.

Yes. Your keys stay on your device. No one at Dark can move your funds or pause your withdrawals, and you can withdraw without any Dark server (see "How to withdraw without Dark").
No. Dark hides amounts, not the trail: who pays whom and when stays public, and nothing is shuffled between users. Each account's balance is encrypted on its own; the USDG backing all balances sits in one contract that no one at Dark can move.
Yes. Create a disclosure link for a balance, a payment or a total. It proves that one fact about your private USDG; the viewer also learns your address. You can set it to expire or revoke it. Revoking stops the link working, but anyone who already opened it may have saved the proof, and it stays valid.
